Best Of Asake (Lonely at the top)

Asake’s track “Lonely At The Top” stands among the most monumental No. 1 songs ever, making a significant mark in the realm of music.

Asake’s “Lonely At The Top” has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming one of just four songs in history to accumulate twice as many chart points as the No. 2 song within a single week. The track’s journey began when it debuted at No. 11 on the singles charts during the tracking week of June 16th – June 22nd, 2023. Since then, it steadily climbed the charts, ultimately claiming the prestigious No. 1 spot in the tracking week of July 7th – July 13th.

This accomplishment marks “Lonely At The Top” as Asake’s 11th No. 1 song, setting a record for the most chart-toppers by any artist in the history of the singles chart. The single’s dominance continued as it maintained its reign atop the Official Nigeria Music Top 100 for three consecutive weeks, establishing a new record for the most significant activity for any single in a week throughout 2023.

During the tracking week of July 7th – July 13th, the song garnered 6.04 million on-demand streams and reached 48.3 million in radio reach, achieving a new peak at No. 1 on the charts. This trend persisted in the following weeks, with “Lonely At The Top” amassing 6.7 million on-demand streams and 64.6 million in radio reach (July 14th – July 20th) and setting a new record for the biggest activity in a week in 2023 with 5.94 million on-demand streams and 81.8 million in radio reach.

In a remarkable feat during the tracking week of July 21st – July 27th, “Lonely At The Top” became the fourth song ever to accumulate more chart points than the No. 2 song in a week, joining the ranks of notable tracks such as “Cough (Odo)” by Kizz Daniel & EMPIRE, “Buga” by Kizz Daniel & Tekno, and “Peru” by Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran.

“Lonely At The Top” recently achieved the distinction of being the ninth song to simultaneously top all major charts in Nigeria within a single week, including Official Nigeria Top 100, Shazam, Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay, and Radio.

Notably, it is the sole 2023 release to achieve this remarkable feat, joining the ranks of previous hits like “Fem,” “Godly,” “Lie,” “Sip (Alcohol),” “Buga (Lo Lo Lo),” “Bandana,” “Cough (Odo),” and “Asiwaju.”
“Lonely At The Top” stands as one of the biggest songs of 2023, reigning supreme on both streaming and radio charts simultaneously. With the album “Work of Art” securing the top spot on the albums chart and Asake leading the artist charts, the street-hop act finds themselves in a position where success might indeed be a solitary affair at the top.
